This is a quick skit
suitable as an assembly item about eating in a restaurant. The students
are interviewed by an NHK reporter. This skit can be performed after
visiting a Japanese restaurant or a unit on food with the students
writing their own versions as an assessment item.

NHK
(Japan Broadcasting Corporation) is Japan's sole public broadcaster
and is the equivalent of the ABC in Australia. |
| Yakitori |
|
grilled
chicken speared on skewers. The chicken is dipped in a special
sauce and grilled over hot charcoals. |
| Tempura |
|
seafood
and vegetables deep-fried in tempura batter. Tempura was brought
to Japan by the Portuguese. |
|
Okonomiyaki |
|
Okonomiyaki
is a mixture between pancake and pizza. "Okonomi" means "as
you like". It is usually made of flour, water, eggs and cabbage
to which you can add your preferred fillings. |
